Some thoughts and experiences with NFTs
We hear a lot about #NFTs. NFT are not cryptocurrency. People who want to create, buy or sell use cryptocurrency to participate.
To use cryptocurrency they (I’m trying to discuss this from an objective third party perspective) need a digital wallet with some form of coin (eg, bitcoin, ethereum, doge) usually funded by a transfer to a bank of credit card for a fee or “gas”
“Gas” is the transaction cost paid to ‘miners’ who make the blockchain work. Cryptocurrency transaction require ‘gas.’ Gas can be very expensive. Gas is hard to predict of explain. It’s my understanding that your crypto balance is reduced even if the transaction is unsuccessful. (Please correct me if I’m wrong!)
My experience so far
Here’s one. This is a short vid I made. This one is on #Rarible. It’s posted to my instagram account @gregfieler
I’m trying out #Mintable because there is a no cost option to get involved. I had (and sometimes continue to have) technical challenges with the minting process and the site in general. I do have to say that support is excellent and provided online on #Discord.
Here’s my Mintable page - it’s effort to mint music
I’m also using #opensea to more easily mint my music even though these could easily be copied right from the NFT description. Though one of the things that makes NFTs valuable is rarity, proving ownership by buying the NFT even though you can easily just make your own copy is not just the right thing to do for the creator and possibly thoughtful curator.
