Smart Controls in Logic Pro X
Until recently I never really worried too much about using the smart controls in Logic Pro X. I use two screens so there is plenty of room to keep the Mixer open on one monitor and control my plugins from there.
With the addition of Logic Remote to my music production arsenal there is a new reason to think about Smart Controls. I had the ability to touch multiple controls at the same time which is great for riding the fader on multiple tracks in the mixer. I could control the play/record head without being at my computer. Those things are very easy and straightforward. But, I knew there was a lot more to the program (oops - showing my age - the app) and wanted to figure out how I could take advantage of it.
I read somewhere that I could configure Logic Remote to do almost everything I can do on the desktop. It took me a while to figure out how - a big part of it is configuring the smart controls. For now, I’ll just tease you with the idea that you can configure Smart Controls to do pretty much anything you want.
Just because a layout is based on the real world image of a guitar amp doesn’t mean that you have to use it for guitars. In the next post I’ll show you changes I made to the Smart Controls for one of my pianos.
But, hey - I took the time to get screenshots of many of the controls so I might as well share them. It’s not that I worry so much about what they look like. I am more concerned with how many and what kinds of controls are available. A summary table is forthcoming. Or, if someone else wants to contribute this, I would be delighted!
